Hi everyone,
Croeso/Welcome! My name is Matthew and this is my first posting on our new blog. I would have preferred a positive post to start off with, but unfortunately it was not possible; events overtook me. Please read the following email that was sent yesterday to Leighton Andrews AM and Chris Bryant MP:
Unfortunately, I am calling on your services much sooner than expected. I have a serious complaint to bring to your attention regarding safety on the school bus service for Ysgol Gyfun Cymer Rhondda. The buses provided are filled to over-capacity, consequently pupils are forced to sit on the stairs and stand in the aisles. This, in my opinion, is extremely unsafe and I am quite sure any intelligent person would agree.
If that wasn’t enough, I also have a second complaint this time regarding the punctuality of the school bus service. The bus that collects our son has not been on time once. The situation became much worse this morning (Wednesday, 13th) when I, my son and other pupils waited in the cold for 40 minutes. Consequently, my patience withered away and I took Owain to school myself. Whether the bus or another eventually arrived is, in my opinion, immaterial. The pupils fulfil their part of the contract by being at the pick-up point on time. Unfortunately, the school bus service is working to a different time-table to the rest of us, thus their part of the contract is not being met. This is not “rocket science.” I ran my own taxi service for 15 years and took great pride in providing an extremely punctual service. It can be achieved!
Consequently, for the above two problems I, for one, am certainly appalled with the “service” provided. I am sorry for writing such negative correspondence, but I felt that I had no alternative; turning a blind eye was not an option. Therefore, if you could involve yourself in this matter we would all be extremely grateful.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Harris.
